Weekly Reflection:
How does your recipe fit within the Australian guide to healthy eating?
This dish contains some vegetables such as onions and tomatoes. it also contains poultry in the form of beef mince and dairy in form of the lasagne cream and garlic bread. According to the AGHE guidelines, this dish would not be healthy since there are not many vegetables or nutritious foods. There are lots of meat and dairy, which can be unhealthy when consuming excessive amounts.
How did you delegate the tasks during the cook with your partner?
My partner and I both collected the ingredients. I began by cutting the onion and garlic. After several minutes I added beef mince to the pan and then added the can of tomatoes, tomato paste and the herbs. My partner melted the butter and added a hint of flour with milk. After my partner finished the cream of the lasagne, we worked on the garlic bread products. I cut the bun and added the butter and garlic, whilst my partner spread butter and added parsley and the wrapped and baked the bread. Then, I finished cooking the beef and tomato paste, and began the layering. Finally, my partner and I layered the lasagne properly, completing the dish successfully.
What aspects of this cook did you find difficult and how did you overcome these?
I found that trying to speed up our production and work rate might have been challenging, because we only completed the product around 15 minutes after recess. I overcame this problem by using my cooking time more efficiently and maintaining a good flow of speed while cooking.
What aspects of this cook did you enjoy and why? Elaborate on your 5 star rating:
This dish was rated a 5 out of 5. The decision was made because of the exceptional taste and flavour of the beef lasagne. It was also very aromatic and pleasing to cook and eat because of the delicious flavour. I enjoyed cooking the beef and tomato paste since it was the most time consuming, it also required lots of patience.
What new skills did you learn this week?
I learned many new skills throughout the process of cooking this meal. I learned how make the layers of the lasagne. I also learnt to be more patient and not to rush the product, so that I can produce a good meal.
A brief history of this dish, 50 -100 words (where did it originate from etc):
The Italian favourite of lasagne originated in Italy in the city of Naples during the Middle Ages. It bore only a slight resemblance to the later traditional form of lasagne, featuring dough flattened into thin sheets, boiled, sprinkled with cheese and spices, and then eaten with a small pointed stick
