Weekly Reflection:
How does your recipe fit within the Australian guide to healthy eating?
This dish contains many vegetables such as onions, lettuce and tomatoes with curry powder, cheese and beef mince. This dish most likely fits into the 'Only sometimes and in small amounts' section of the Australian guide to healthy eating.
How did you delegate the tasks during the cook with your partner?
I collected most of the ingredients, and started to begin the process with my partner. My partner began to slice the onions while I prepared the bacon and cut the cheese. My partner and I both assisted in creating the final beef mince for the burger. After making the mince, I worked on finishing the bacon, whilst my partner cooked the mince. After finishing the mince, I prepared most of the food to complete the setup of the mini beef sliders.
What aspects of this cook did you find difficult and how did you overcome these?
I found that trying to speed up our production and work rate might have been challenging, because we only completed the dish around 3 minutes before timeout. I overcame this problem by using my cooking time more efficiently and maintaining a good flow of speed while cooking.
What aspects of this cook did you enjoy and why? Elaborate on your 5 star rating:
This dish was rated a 5 out of 5. This decision was made because of the solid taste and texture of the meal that was produced from a 60 minutes of time. I enjoyed the fact that my partner and I worked at a steady pace, the work wasn't too rushed until the end and the meal looked fresh and prepared.
What new skills did you learn this week?
In my first ever time cooking a meal, I learned how to cook beef, and bacon with a pan. I also learned how to mix together different mixtures of food.
A brief history of this dish, 50 -100 words (where did it originate from etc):
The mini beef sliders were first created at White Castle, a popular American fast food chain restaurant. White Castle became famous for their cheap and greasy mini-burgers and the tradition continues to this day. The name originated in the 1940s, when sailors in the U.S. Navy would refer to mini-burgers as 'sliders' because of their extreme greasiness.
